As the long tail of summer project work tapers into the fall semester, we report news of the new and improved.

The CIT building will be closed on Tuesday, June 13 from 7am until 3pm.

Forwarding of @cs.brown.edu mail addresses was unstable over the past day.  The problem has been fixed and we expect all delayed mail to be delivered shortly.

Jignesh Kakodkar joins the Technical Staff today as Senior Systems Programmer.  Jignesh comes to us with seven years of experience developing web, application and system software and administering systems in industry.  He has a Master's degree in Computer Science from UMass Dartmouth and broad range of interests and experience.  As Senior Systems Programmer, Jignesh will assist in developing and maintaining the CS Department's infrastructure and in deploying and improving services.

The CIT building will be closed from Wednesday, Jan 11 at 8am until Thursday, Jan 12 at 9am.

We are experiencing system-wide issues affecting user logins, existing sessions and some services.  Tstaff is investigating.

Mail to the CS list servers sent between Friday, Nov 18 at 4:30pm and Tuesday, Nov 22 at 3pm was delayed.  The cause was an unusual failure of a mail transfer program on that server.  List service has been restored.

Summer time is project time for CS's technical staff, and this year we tackled a range of tasks, big and small, up-front and behind-the-scenes.

Our filesystem issues continued this morning, as OIT, working with Dell/EMC, was performing maintenance on the cluster.
