Starting Wednesday, August 18th through August 27th, we will begin upgrading all tstaff managed linux machines, fastx clusters and compute clusters to Debian 11, aka "Bullseye.”
For more information about what is new in bullseye see:
https://www.debian.org/<wbr/>releases/bullseye/
**The upgrade to bullseye will be a re-install. This means the hard drive will be reformatted and any data on the local harddrive ( /tmp, /ltmp, etc) will be erased. Please be sure to save any local data you care about to your home directory before the scheduled upgrade.
Current running jobs in the compute clusters will be allowed to complete before the node is upgraded.
Upgrade Schedule:
- August 18 - 19: Sunlab, Mlab, CIT201 and TA machines
- August 23 - 27: Compute clusters, Fastx clusters, Faculty, Staff and Graduate machines
We will do our best to contact the user at least a day before the scheduled upgrade. Please contact tstaff immediately if you need to delay the linux upgrade of your machine.
Please direct your comments, questions and concerns to problem@cs.brown.edu.
