It was an interesting start to a Wednesday morning...
As you're probably already aware, there was a short blip in connectivity/functionality this morning that blocked our SSH gateway, logins and general use of the department's systems. Our GPFS file system was overwhelmed, which resulted in a kind of traffic jam of requests and locks between general usage and maintenance processes.
We'll be looking into ways to avoid this kind of situation for the near future, while we continue the migration process to the University's Isilon file system. And we thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition phase.
