CIT Chiller Upgrade Project

By now, you've no doubt noticed a large truck bed with two big cooling towers parked next to the CIT. Are you curious about what's going on? The chiller system, which provides cool water to the various machine rooms in the building, is original to building, rather cantankerous, and in the process of being replaced. It will take roughly two months to remove the old chillers, install the replacement chillers, and during this time the cooling towers on the truck will be used to continue providing the building with chilled water.
As of the end of last week, the temporary chillers are now in full operation and demolition of the old chillers in the basement and on the roof has begun. They have installed sound reducing window inserts on the lower floors near the temporary chiller. So far, we have received no noise complaints due to the temporary chillers and hope this trend continues.
The contractors are working on a tight schedule, often 10 hour days, 6 days a week. They have warned us that some of the demolition activities may be noisy and are trying their best to ensure the noisiest of the work is performed outside of business and class hours.
At times, they will be have a crane truck parked at the loading dock and be pulling extensive amounts of materials and equipment in and out of the basement. This will necessitate blocking CIT doors, so please bear with them as they perform this work.
